After watching so many videos about the different ways in which humans use water...what are your thoughts?  Write a short reflection.

  2. Comparison between how Inuit and other people use water is completely different. The government looks at water as a source of income but that comes with consequences from taking resources from the environment. The Quebec hydro Dam for example, this has created a lot of consequences for the James bay and Nunavik people. It affected their protected lands, hunting/fishing, and even communities. Whereas Inuit, we use it wisely, cautiously, and sustainability. This is something that companies and the Government don't look at, when pursing any type of development.

  3. In my opinion, there are going to be so many different development companies that can or will overrule people and communities. For example there are already many developing structures in the ocean being used for oil and with all this if one thing goes wrong that affects many many people and their water and food source. There are already cases of oil and toxic waste leaking into our water systems but still companies are planning to develop different ways of doing what they are doing to “make this a economically safe environment” for our waters and still it is said to take decades to come up with that new development. Even with climate change we are already seeing the northwest passageways opening up, where the frozen ice was and with this we are seeing where generations used to hunt and camp in outposts gone. Yes this can benefit us economically but in the long run will we survive this environmentally? Will my children and their children have safe drinking water? And will these animals we see now as a delicacy still be here for other generations to come? Yes these developing organizations are great for jobs and learning skills but you still have to think, is this benefiting everyone?

  6. I also never thought that the water is important, realizing that we use water in different many ways like for our body, for sea animals, for boating, fishing, we also get water from the land (Fresh water), we also use water when were out on the land before cooking country food. Practically everything we do we use water.

  7. water is important to us, we have to have freshwater in nunavut and we go hunting with boats and we go hunting with skidoo when the water is frozen.

  8. As the way of the Inuit, water has been used different depending on the year, the people group would use it as a terrain as it would freeze in the winter months and still remain there in the spring. In the summer the Inuit would use it as a way of transportation as their innovation of the kayak or boat to catch sea animal's, Depending on which region of course (there were Inuit who were mostly depended on land. The way of the water was mastered by the Inuit, so it is their (Me too) duty to govern their sacred ways of the water, not a companies drilling business.

  9. Water is a really sacred resource that has been a part of humanity for millions of thousands of years, and we have used this resource for many things for a long time and it is also what has kept every species alive.

  10. The ways we use use water is completely different then how the companies use the water. Because the way we use the water has always been very important to us, during all seasons, we go out hunting to catch an animal for our families and friends of our community. We use our water very wisely because we have been taught from our ancestors, from generation to generation, it is a part of our life. The way everyone else uses the water in the world they need to realize the community that they're in they need access to clean water.
